iPad/iPhone/Mac email sync... help please!

I am so nearly there with all this set up!! I have calendars, contacts and safari bookmarks all syncing over the cloud between the three devices. Not quite sure how I did it ,quite a lot of fiddling, but it is now working.

BUT, although I can get my email to appear on all three, they do not "sync" at all as I understand they should

I've looked through all the settings I can think of. I have even switched on "push" on both ipad and iphone in case that makes any difference.... what am I missing here?!?

TIA

What does the email address end in? Apple email addresses (ending in @me.com) should sync, but if you are using a non-Apple email address you may not be able to sync email across the devices.

Both my gmail and my Exchange account sync between my IPad and iPhone - I'm not sure what you're missing, as I just set everything to 'on' for each account in Settings -Mail

Though, actually, the only thing sent to 'push' is my exchange account on the iPad, but I have Mail, Calendars and Notes set to On on both.

Mine all sync seamlessly with a yahoo account, although the calendar function isn't perfect (it's all an hour out on one device). Email is fine.

When you say they don't sync, what do you mean exactly? Do new emails only appear on one device or something?

I have a btinternet.com address. Having done some further research, apparently they are the hardest ones to configure to get to do the sync across all devices. We have now set up an icloud.com address which syncs perfectly. I get a lot of crud to the bt address, have had it ten years, so ten years worth of junk marketing!! May bite the bullet and just swap email addresses, seeing as that one works with no effort!!!

I gather that googlemail ones also work well, as it sounds like yahoo too, but bt notoriously bad (goes through on wrong type of server or something - POP not IMAP????)

Thanks all.

My Yahoo one is a btinternet.com one and it is fine, but if I ever get any problems I will know why!

Possibly you are already on IMAP servers, ours is very very old, all was configured with POP servers and apparently that makes all the difference!!!! So you will probably be fine.... Wink

Not sure now, it's a while since I set it all up. I have had that email address for at least 10 years though. Thinking about it I do get problems occasionally with it syncing between the server and the Mac, but not had any probs so far, the Ipad / Iphone.

I use a private domain name on my btinternet.com account, one of the reasons I set that up was so that I could use it with any email provider without changing addresses, but I have never got around to changing the account. The domain name email address works fine on the Ipad and Mac but for some reason I cannot get it to send from the Iphone, all sent messages still appear as btinternet.com, which bugs me.
