Can I join several pieces of music together into 1 track?

I want to create a piece of music by splicing together a number of tracks.

I have some CDs which I can obviously convert to mp3 files or similar. I want to make them shorter. I also want to find some music (hopefully free online) which I can add into the mix.

I am trying to create a kind of musical statues game where instead of stopping the music it changes to a specific tune. I am trying to create the soundtrack for it.

TY.

I found that myself about 10 minutes ago :)

I've downloaded my clips.
I've timmed my clips.
Now I have to work out how to splice them together

Open up the one you want to begin with. Use File->Import to add the next one. Select the section you want to add. Either Ctrl-C copy and Ctrl-V paste it at the end of the first track then delete the second track, or insert silence at the beginning of the second track, adding a fade-out to the first track and fade-in on the second track if desired.

All done. I don't think I did it like that but I seem to have done it :)
