Can't decide between Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch or Nexus 7?

Can anyone help please? I'm trying to decide between these two for DS (aged 9) for Christmas. Has anyone got either and can sway me in either direction? Once the cashback deal from Samsung is taken into account there is not a lot in it money wise.

It would be just the wifi version, so it would just be used at home and possibly on hols in free wifi places I guess?

Thanks!

Cash back?

I got the 10 inch tab 2, i like it, i can upgrade the internal memory with a 32 micro sd , i can stick a usb key in it with an adaptor, and my camers sdhc cards. The speakers are pretty good tho i mainly use headphones. Cameras not great it's just webcam quality but can't think of anything else to complain about.

SunWukong - Samsung are doing a £30/£50 cashback deal at the mo when you buy selected tablets.

I think I'm swaying towards the Nexus at the moment after reading various customer review sites......decisions, decisions!

re cash back - there's an offer of 50 quid cash for anyone who buys before end of September. Saw a thread about it in passing where an 8GB Galaxy Tab 2 was shown at 180 quid before cashback.

Think it is 50 quid off a 16GB unit, but have not the spare cash so have not researched the full details of the Samsung deal.

My son is inseparable from his nexus 7. And consequently I can't tell you a thing about it as he's never off it long enough for me to have a proper go on it- grrrr.

Hmmm, for the same money (on a different thread on HUKD) the 16GB Nexus 7 looks to be available from Tesco. I've not compared them, so no comments on which to choose.

Probably worth reading the discussions on HUKD about how good/bad the two units are, and any links to reviews of them.

I've been looking at the Nexus but I'm waiting to see what the Kindle Fire is like. Don't suppose anyone has seen one if they have friends or family in America?

If the cash back offer ends at the end of this month you will not be able to apply, you have to wait 30 days after buying the thing before you can apply, i got 2 more days to go before i psn do it, if you put the wrong date your claim is invalid.

I thought item had to be delivered by end of month and the 30-45 days surely applies whatever the purchase date. From the Samsung page :-

TABLETS

Claim £50/?50 cashback on the following Tablet models: ...

Claim £30/?30 cashback on the following Tablet models: ...

Qualifying Tablet purchases must be made between 01/08/12 and 30/09/12

In fact it is purchased by end of month, not delivered.

Oh well it either works or it doesn't, terrible process anyway.
