Ipad, motorola xoom or something else?

DHs 40th coming up - and my budget is around £250-£400.

Originally I was thinking Ipad - but it means I can't but him anything else. Like the look of the Motorola Xoom (for £325 - seems to have OK reviews)
But is there anything else that I should look at, ideally for around £300? or should I just splash the cash for the Ipad?

Not really sure what he would use it for - but he loves his ipod and my kindle and thought it would be good gadget for taking away on weekends/camping/
holidays etc.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Put it this way, the ipad 2 is outselling every other single tablet combined. I think I read somewhere that they are selling 4 tablets for every other tablet sold.

With those sorts of numbers you have to ask yourself why. And simply the answer is because it's the best.

I've played with the Motorola Xoom. I wasn't impressed with it at all. The screen wasn't great and the stupid bugs in it killed it for me. To be fair they may have fixed those by now but still.

Get him the ipad and don't look back!

I have an Asus transformers, better reviews than the zoom and i love it, android doesn't rely on the same limitations apple products do, my partner has an iPad but is jealous of my tablet. The one i bought comes with a keyboard dock which is very useful, as is the usb port. not sure whether iPad 2 has those?
