I'm a bit thick with a HP touchpad

I got me one of them there HP touchpads in the firesale a few months back. It's great but I'm not exactly getting the best use out of it due to my limited intelligence. The dummy book isn't out until after christmas.

I'd love to be able to download a few cartoons/movies so my son could use it on long journeys and whatever but I've no idea how to do it. Also any recommended aps would be great too. I can only get info on ipads and android tablets so any fellow touchpad owners out there?

I managed to get one of these. To be honest if it wasn't for the fact they keep saying they are close with the port to Android on it, I'd have flogged it by now.

There's just so little support out there for it that it's practically useless as a tablet other than surfing the web. Even then it's not that great. Shame really, it showed so much promise.

In answer to your question, the only videos it plays natively seems to be MP4's. Now there are not many places on the Internet you can legitimately download MP4's from. If you are not bothered about "legitimate" then I am sure you can easily find plenty of xvid videos around.

Or you could transfer some films from DVD to watch.

Either way, you'd have to convert them using a program such as Handbrake so that it's in the right MP4 file which the Touchpad will recognise.

To be fair to the Touchpad, even Apple's will only play MP4 out of the box. It's just that both Android & Ipad's have a lot more support so other people have written applications to support other stuff.

Hope that helps

Thanks niceguy! (such a nice guy Grin)

I'll download that handbrakey thingy tomorrow. As for the converting....Confused. I'll fiddle around and see what I can do. I need to grab a teenager don't I?
