Hey!

I am due for an upgrade and new phone and prob going to buy iPhone 4 and just get cheap sim.

I want to sell my current 3GS 16gb one problem is it has a dodgy switch on it which apple says they will repair for £119 and give me a replacement

So do I get it repaired and sell it or just sell it as it is to prob one of these adverts on the telly?

Hope that's makes sense and thanks fir any help!!

Which switch is it? Is it the rocker switch for mute?

Personally I'd suggest flogging it on eBay for the best price. Otherwise you may get a better price from a shop like CEX if you have one in your area.

If you want a cheap SIM, check out GiffGaff

Yeah switch on left very irritating flashes on and off all the time!

Do you mean get new one then sell or sell dodgy one (surely that wouldn't sell)

Cheers

How much does a 3GS go for these days? If it's going to cost £119 to get it repaired then you won't make much profit when you sell it on.

I sold my old iphone 3G for about £120 with 02 recycle less than a year ago (which is of course a decade in techology terms...)

Sorry for late reply. I've been away this weekend.

The mute switch on the 3GS is actually pretty easy to repair but it does involve opening it up.

My point is if you are not so brave enough to open it up then it's still perfectly possible to get a decent price on eBay for the phone since there will be plenty of people willing to get it and repair the button themselves. You can get a new switch for £2.

So if I were you, i'd just advertise it honestly on eBay and tell people its an easy repair but you have just got an upgrade so not interested in getting it fixed.
