itunes appcrash

oh god help, my itunes won't open and tells me an appcrash has occurred. What the hell is that and can I fix it?

It sounds like you're on Windows, can you confirm that?

How are you trying to open iTunes? By double clicking it or by connecting an iOS device? Is an iOS device connected?

It's probably worth installing an updated version of iTunes by downloading the latest version from here:

I am on windows and I am double clicking on it. I have downloaded the latest version but still no dice.

Did the latest version install without complaint?

Is your iOS thingy plugged in? If so unplug it, and if possible unplug anything that's plugged into your machine that's not needed.

Does the error give any more information?
