We've installed a new router and the internet is working fine, but now I can't print anything. The laptop doesn't seem to be "talking" to the printer. My technical knowledge is small and I'm not sure where to start. Any ideas please? TIA.

If you can give some more details someone should be able to help.

What Printer is it?
How is the printer connected to your computer?
What Operating System does you computer use (Windows XP? Windows 7? Mac OS X?)

I'm guessing it's a wireless printer?

In which case knowing which model would help. As would knowing what your old IP information was and the new.

Sorry, been out for afternoon. It's a Brother DCP-770CW wireless printer. Our operating system is Vista.

Sorry niceguy - what is IP information?

Thanks again.

Ah right ok. So when you set up the new router, are you using the same Wireless network name & password? Or a completely new one? I'm guessing a new one so chances are your printer is still trying to connect to the old details.

If you look at this link on the Brother website (section 3), it should show you how to amend the settings on your printer. Luckily yours has a screen on it. Otherwise it can get messy. Link to manual

Thanks niceguy. Will have a look at that and hopefully sort it out. Just checking with DH if there was a new password involved. Thanks again.

Update - am trying to go through the stages to reinstate the printer, as it seems it is not on the network. However it says to disable the firewall. How do I do that, and how do I reinstate it when I need to please?

Further update! Have established that our wireless network password hasn't altered at all, so am now at a complete loss as to what to do! Any help gratefully received. TIA.

Has your wireless name changed? Have you gone through the steps to reconnect the printer to the new wireless network?
