Hi,
I have an Iphone already and I am thinking of getting an Ipad (wifi only), is it just a bigger Iphone (without the phone obv)?
Does it have any more features/uses than an I phone?
Should I consider another tablet one, (haven't looked at any at all yet, I know nothing about them)
I want to use it as a kindle, to use the internet, we have a pc and DH has a laptop for our business so we have 'pc' functionality if we need it.
I am bf twins currently and need some sanity in terms of internet surfing and a tablet seems like a great idea as not as heavy and cumbersome as a laptop.
I am going to sell a load of stuff on ebay to raise some funds for it, so need to make the right choice!
TIA

I use mine mainly when bf-ing because otherwise I'd go crazy. Also useful for entertaining toddlers (iplayer my bed at 6am). If you can afford it, go for it.

Love it!! I hardly use my computer now, only to back up iPhone and iPad. I surf the net, buy and play music, up with Mumsnet, get my emails, Facebook, Twitter. And the Apps!! I have a radio one, lots for the children to play with and I can download books if I want. I find it's much quicker than the PC. You don't have to turn the PC on and wait for it to load up. The iPad is there instantly!! As I said before, I LOVE IT!!!! Grin

No idea about other tablets I'm afraid, but I got an iPad2 for my birthday and love it. I use it for emails, general web-surfing, calendar, catching up on the news, watching films, reading (both kindle and iBooks), making notes, shopping lists, there are loads of games on it for the kids, you can take it around with you as it's genuinely portable. It's especially useful for those times when you've got half an hour to kill if you're waiting for one child to finish an activity or if you suddenly forget what's the next stage in a recipe because it's instantly on, just open up the case and you're away!

If you already have an iPhone then it would be madness to get any other branded tablet. The apple devices synch so seamlessly to each other. They have an update that is coming out in the autumn which means you will not even have to hook them up to your computer to synch them. It will all be done wirelessly. So if you use your calendar and contacts on one device, it will synch to the others.

I love my iPad 2. We have an iMac but I use the iPad for pretty much everything. It has some limitations that you need a computer for instead, but very few.

IlanaK - the wireless synch is happening already if you have a MobileMe account (it's being replaced by Icloud in the autumn) I bought an app on my iPhone the other day and it appeared automatically on the iPad.

I'm going to have to find out how to stop it happening automatically though, as I download a lot of TV to my 64 Gb iPad which I on't want on the 16Gb iPhone....

My ipad has arrived and i have downloaded a couple of apps, do you have to use the iphone apps and either view them smaller than the screen or expand them andthem be all pixellated, or is there something i am missing? Mumsnet and facebook being examples.
Otherwise.... Love it! Grin

With mumsnet on the iPad I just use the full computer version. Find mumsnet on your Internet via safari and when at the page you use most (mine is threads I'm on page) tap the Icon right beside the web address which has the arrow and a box on it. That will give you options to bookmark your web page, or as I do, touch the 'add to home screen' option and you can then have the icon displayed on your home screen of the iPad. Means you can very quickly get into mumsnet with one tap!

For Facebook I did the same, I don't use the iPhone version on the iPad, but have placed an icon on the home screen from the full Internet version not just the mobile version. To upload photos from the iPad memory I did get the Facebook for iPad app which is pretty good, but I mainly use the proper version.

For other apps I went onto the app store on the iPad and got the iPad version of the apps I wanted instead of using the iPhone version.

Some apps aren't available for iPad only iPhone and these apps I use the x2 button on the bottom of the display to make them bigger. But as I said, mostly I just got the iPad version of the app instead.

If you have an iPhone and an iPad get the Bump app as you can then bang the two gadgets together and send photos and apps from one device to another.

Enjoy it, I have had mine over a year and I love it!...my poor laptop hardly ever gets switched on these days!

Hello fellow iPad fans! My Dh has just launched his first app (Retro Mag) it is free but he's a bit flummoxed about how to try to get in the charts etc. Anyone an expert on here? Any feedback also very much appreciated. Thanks
