Can anyone recommend a good book on building apps iphone and/or smartphones in general?

Just wondering really - keep hearing that it is easy to build apps and I have a couple of ideas that I wanted to try out. And there are now loads of books available so that rather than rush in and end up buying loads, I thought I'd see if there are any out there that people can recommend - or at least steer me away from the bad ones!

I've worked in website design - but more on the front end/UX side of things so not too bothered about that aspect but my coding skills are very rusty. And they were never that great to start with - I was fine tinkering around with other's code to bug fix or change characteristics, but I've never learnt proper coding (other than a 1 week course in BASIC at uni - that dates me - which is fairly useless for current purposes I am guessing!).

Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

What sort of phone do you have? I don't think it's worth buying a book - mobile technology is changing SO fast. Have a look at the Android App Inventor instead smile

Thanks wellwisher - I'll go and have a look at that site and see if there are any others out there.

I've got an iPhone but would get an android too if needs be. Holy grail would be to write it once and then just tweak for each platform but that doesn't seem to be that easy either!
