Music from Itunes to my Mp3 and HTC

How do I do this, I have just put downloaded itunes onto my netbook I have put some of my own cds on there and bought a few from the istore but I havent got a clue how to put them onto my phone or mp3. Will I have to put the software which came with my phone onto my netbook because when I plug my phone or my mp3 into the comptuer nothing at all happens.

Sorry if I sound very vague but I really am a novice in techno world.

I've just had a look on my pc. If you go to My Music and find the files for the songs in the iTunes folder you can right-click them and select the option to add them to the Windows Media Player list. I guess that will then allow you to put them on your Mp3 player. not sure about the phone though.
