I killed my laptop last autumn with a whole cup of tea. The advice I got was to take the battery out, stick it in the warmest driest place in your house (I used the airing cupboard) and not attempt to start it for a minimum of 48 hours.

Unfortunately I had just got it too wet and it fried, but you might find its ok if its only a teaspoon. The problem you've got is the juice is sticky and sweet which could be a major problem. The sugar really gets to the internal parts.

Before you attempt to start it, try the keyboard. If it sticks at all, dont start it, you will damage the motherboard. If its not sticky, try it and hopefully it will be ok.

Good luck!

BTW NetworkGuy gave me lots of helpful advice it might be worth PMing him.

I turned if off because I thought I should

I have been using DD/DH's crappy one all day

I want mine back but I don't know if it's too soon to turn it on

I had to set up my emails on here & I have 4983 emails and only 228 are supposedly spam (& most of them aren't)

leave it at least another whole day. If you start it while theres the slihghtest chAnce of being damp you WILL fry it.

Well you on here is surely more important than DH/DDs needs? Wink

I'm currently on an 8 year old crappy laptop which has no battery life so is permanently connected to the wall. It takes an average of half an hour to warm up from scratch and the casing is cracked.

The laptop I killed was less than 6 months old, my mum had bought it for us.

I haven't had the courage yet to tell her its gone. We sold it on ebay for spares for £82.

If it dies, you can claim on your household insurance if you have accidental damage cover. Apparently it's quite a common claim. We didn't, stupid really, why else do we pay out each month if not to use it?

It's in the computer shop being 'looked at'
