Computers with Word 2003 should also have a reasonably new version of Windows Media Player,; if they don't they should be able to update it free) and a file exported from MovieMaker (save to my computer/best quality for playback to my computer) should play on them.

It may be the format of the DVD not the format of the video file itself that's the problem. How big is the video file- could you email it to them, or put it on a USB stick?

Export as an AVI and put it on a CD-ROM. That way it should be read by most systems with Windows Media Player.

Try doing:
Publish - This Computer - Give it a name - DV-AVI (PAL)
That will create a LARGE AVI file.

Also try

Publish - This Computer - Give it a different name - More Settings: DVD Quality (PAL) (3.0Mbps)
That will create a WMV file.
