Planted them from seed. Did rocket and aubergine in pots outside and chard direct into the veg patch.

How do I get these plants pt grow?

Rocket usually comes up quite fast...but I think chard does take a little longer. Never grown aubergine though. How long as it been since you sowed them?

I think aubergine likes it warm - mine were sown indoors in one of those little unheated propagators on the windowsill and came up. I have tried growing them before and had no success whatsoever but I know the plants like it warm and do better in a greenhouse than out in the open in the UK.

i have never dared to sow any plants direct, have mucho snails. all is done inside and moved out (sometimes to a certain death). if you are in or near east london you can have one of my aubs.

have a separate salad growing window box on a shelf. not sure what has happened with your rocket. i have eaten two lots already so just try again.

Sowed them a good month ago, defo not coming up. Tis my first time. Rocket is in a planter, chard is in the veg patch. Oh well c'est la vie.

Thanks fishie but no longer near e london

A month is a bit long ...they may have been eaten the moment they sprouted. A lot of my seedlings went that way this year as my compost had slugs in it. Sowing a a few more and paying them a visit every evening after dark with a torch to check for slugs might yield some seedlings. Don't get discouraged...even seasoned growers have problems like this

How old are the seeds btw?

grew Aubergine in porch in London - like very hot.

Try re-sowing now rain has come, its not too late. And get rid of the slugs and here's a good recipe from the times snail recipe

Too late to sow aubergine now I would say, really they need to go in in March somewhere warm like an airing cupboard.

My rocket is a no show too, but then I saved leftover seeds from last year and think they were duds. Either that or the slugs got em.

I don;t think slugs got the rocket as never saw any evidence of sprouting or slugs. I was watering them every day. I have a feel maybe I overwatered them. They are in a huge pastic pot, whcih was there already and I don;t think it has any drainage.

Is it too late to plant more seeds and if so what's the best way?

Not too late - rocket can be constantly sowed through the summer - i sowed some in August and harvested in end Sept.
