repotting orchid houseplant

Have an orchid that I'm hoping will re-flower one day.
What do I re-pot it in?
Do I need to buy specific orchid soil or can I chuck some wood chips and mix with soil? It's roots look like their growing out of pot now up in the air, but otherwise it's healthy looking.
Or should I just bin it and give up?!!

The roots be growing out of the pot are ok so that is not a reason to repot it. Most of the fancy orchids grow in damp conditions, up trees, etc and ariel feed so have some roots that can be exposed.

You'll need a specialist orchid compost that you can get from specialist growers here, orchid shows or larger garden centres. They need a very light, dry soil mix and won't do well in a home mix or standard compost. Also don't overwater it, let it dry out between watering and then only water it sparingly
