I want to buy this for a friend's wedding gift. They live in a flat, do you know if they can plant it in a pot until they get somewhere with a garden of their own?
Yes, I have one in a pot, kept it small deliberately by cutting back into shape. It's about 10 years old, repot every 2 years or so.(Grew it from a nut whooo)
Great thanks.Well done you for growing it from a nut. Was it really difficult? I might try it... for myself, the wedding is on Saturday and I don't think that I can grow one that quickly!
We planted 3 per pot, about 5 pots altogether, 2 came up and I managed to coddle this one.Have a go.I also have 2 teeny tiny oak trees in pots, grown from acorns.<<preen>>
So... how do I do this?Do I get some hazelnuts from the shop (the ones that you eat) and then soak them until shoots appear?I have only grown stuff out of the packet, like corgettes so this is a big step and I am excited.
And oaks as well! Well done. I was excited with my corgettes last year.
DH says you could keep it in the pot for ever, it would just grow to fit the pot. (he is a tree surgeon)
