Well, my lawnmower has finally given up the ghost. Am off to buy a new one tomorrow, but does anyone have any suggestions as to what to buy?

I will go for either an electrical of push along (although have 150' garden which is very thin - but could do with the upper body workout!)

Anyone have a good one?

TIA - BBx

Hi - saw your message whilst at work yesterday but needed to go home and check through my copies of Amateur Gardening. They recently recommended two pushalongs: the Panther 380 from B&Q, £59.99, which they said was good value, or the more expensive RazorCut Premium 38, from Brill, order from manualmowers.co.uk. It's expensive - £106.95 & the grass box is an extra £20, but it got a really good review & it only lost 'Best Buy' place to the Panther on cost.

Can't recommend mine as it's 17 years old and probably nearing the end of its life. Plus it's a hover mower. I too would now go for a handmower just for the exercise (and my lawn is quite small .

Ah Tanee thanks very much, but I got a hover! . I went to B & Q but they had no push alongs only petrol (am too scared to keep petrol on premises) or electical. Sadly (depending on which way you look at it) this is my only weekend for the next fortnight without my ds so want to spend all day tomorrow sorting out the mess that my garden has become so needed to get the lawn mower asap.

Thanks for your reply and time taken anyway

Hope your hovering goes well - I've just rushed round my plot watering things as I'll be away for a week and don't want to come back to a garden full of wilted things. Decided time too short to mow the lawn and anyway I did it on Tuesday. Should be ok till next week I hope?

Tried the new hover! Wow, it was like hoovering the lawn. Wonder why I had been putting up with the other monster for so long.
