Advice needed! Overly sociable herb types cavorting with Mr Weed. (that marjoram was the worst!)

Recent rubbish weather has meant weeds have been given free range over my herb garden. Have spent the afternoon weeding and carefully extracting the little, and big, buggers from their entwinings. 'Twas shocking.

Question is..how easy is it, or advisable to lift the herbs, do a thorough weeding job, and replace back in the soil?? Or.. are the little lovelies too delicate to be messed with in this way???

any advice appreciated. thaanks.

what i always do is plant them in the garen in (bigger) pots- this stops the manic ones (mints, chives) spreading and makes it easy to lift as well

most are fairly sturdy though ime

ah...good idea..so either..I borrow next doors dog to dig them up..or....plant the 'more sociable' ones in separate pots!!!

I have a massive lemon basil that is growing like a hedge....I can put others in pots on my self-constructed (and so therefore wonky) patio...and give space to others. I did plant them pretty close together.....live and learn.

Thanks for the tips, folks. Will pot tomorrow.

you can just bury the pots in the garden too, just stops them spreading everywhere
