Keeping the Christmas tree alive

So, I have a tree in a pot, and a very small, south east facing garden which is about to have builders on one side (fixing a neighbour's wall and lean to. Slowly)
What would you do with the tree??? Should I pot it on? It's on a weird pot with holes in the sides as well as the bottom...

When you say holey pots, do you mean air pots? These are good because roots are directed out of the pot into the air. The tips die off and the root system inside gets denser as a result. As above, you can't keep it in it forever. If it's only just been potted, you could have a year or so before needing to up the pot size. You can just buy a larger air pot at this point.

Ooooh, airpots look v interesting! It's not in one of those though, just bog standard black plastic with small holes all over, both the sides and the bottom. About the size of a drainage hole made by hammering in a nail, although it looks like the holes have always been there.
