[beaming]

oh god though what if it is full of slugs?

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 11:53:47

I reckon you'd know because there'd be none of it left.

I'd wash it in the garden if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to fish the slugs out of the sink ewwwww.

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:00:42

did you plant them quite early (the lettuces)? none of our stuff is ready yet grrr (but we grow in pots so maybe that's why)

enjoy eating it anyway!

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:14:27

Erm, I am not sure when we planted them but we have about a hundred, all crammed in together ds got a bit over enthusiastic with the seed packet

I saw one slug when we were out there but dp says there weren't any on the lettuces (I would no way be able to wash it myself as am horrified by slugs)

It is really odd (and nice) to think this was growing in the ground 10 minutes ago and now I am eating it

MamaMaiasaura Sun 24-Jun-07 12:15:48

well done

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:18:09

oh ds says it is yucky

however is shovelling it into his mouth all the same

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:20:15

perhaps you overwhelmed the slugs with all the lettuces

we can't move for slugs here. I had to take all the pots off the ground because they were such slug magnets.

It is weird growing stuff and eating it - makes me think a lot more about what goes in and on your food!

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:22:47

oh god I am not talking to you in case I catch your slugs

we must have something here because a whole sunflower got chomped and it was about 3 foot high

I did read it is when you start picking the lettuces that the slugs come, so perhaps we will wake up tomorrow to find lettuce carnage

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:24:30

plus homemade pizza made from scratch [pious]

bloody nice

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:24:44

oops wrong thread

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:25:47

<gives pep talk to slugs about finding Franny's garden>

I reckon my slugs would be far happier in your garden. They have to put up with coming into the house to try and find crumbs on the floor here, that's how desperate they are.

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:37:50

best way to cut down the slug population

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:39:29

is there pictures fox because I can't look?

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:42:35

yes - can you not see pics on your compy?

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:43:28

here it is as a web page I think

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:43:45

no no I mean I am SCARED to look in case there are pictures of slugs on the link

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:44:06

oh YES don't look then

good lord what part of the phrase "horrified by slugs" did you not understand?

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:45:23

Ah Fio bad luck, they live under the floorboards and slide up at night time you see

[pats laminate flooring fondly]

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:49:06

lol thought I'd got the disclaimer in just in time

I am horrified by the awful things but still have to put up with them ggrrr. They love our laminate but I think that's because they are living under the appliances in the kitchen grrr.

FrannyandZooey Sun 24-Jun-07 12:51:03

I didn't look, am far too wary for that

the lettuces were all soft and silky compared to supermarket ones

foxinsocks Sun 24-Jun-07 12:51:59

don't look
<wipes sweat off brow>

awww what else have you got growing?
