I've recently moved house and now that the weather is getting better, I am exploring a bit more in the garden.
- I found a hebe, still in its pot, in a border. The roots were growing through the bottom of the pot into the soil. The branches are rather bare lower down. (Would this be called 'leggy'?) Is it possible to prune it somehow so it fills out a bit more and becomes a bit more bushy or is that unlikely to happen?
- There are quite a few lavender plants around (facing different aspects etc). They are generally rather woody and leggy. Would pruning them help or should I give up and remove them?
The lavender in the photo (west facing) is actually one of the better looking ones but it's bending completely to one side and is practically lying flat on the lawn, outside the border. Is there anything I can do to get it growing more upright or is it just a case of being in the wrong position? (The shed presumably casts a shade.)
