I have a bunch of healthy P's, about a metre tall and bushy.

they put on plenty of blooms the size of small lettuces, but are inclined to droop, especially after rain, due to the weight.

How should I be supporting them?

Tell them that they are doing a jolly good job grin

But sadly can't help with any gardening knowledge - although I do love paeonies

Metal peony supports are better than stakes and string. This trumpet ones are good but you don't have to pay these prices

Wilkos sell cane Garden N Hoops which are semi circle supports. Put two together and you make a circle. They have various heights. Wilkos are much cheaper I've found than garden centres for these.

Now everyone, we have to keep PigletJohn over on the gardening thread as his knowledge about all things practical is legendary and will be what is needed for any garden structure related repairs or construction .

Wilkos do a loop at the end of a stake, support. You can then support the individual flowers. I use them for oriental poppies.
