What is this triffid?

These giant beasts have sprung up in my garden. I don't mind weeds, as long as they are pretty, as I'm just doing a wildflower lawn.

Any idea what they could be please?

Just to add - it could literally be anything. We have the only patch of green for a few gardens each way, at least, so seem to be a trap for all manner of seeds.

Have had strawberries and carrots appear in the lawn, which was lovely!

I think it's umbelliferae (same family as carrots, parsnips and parsley) a wild one though, maybe hogweed

There is a cabbage of some sort in the left of the picture too.

I thought it might be hogweed. I'll pull it up then before it spreads too much. Thank you.

Is there really a cabbage? Can't tell if you're joking…

Yes, that's a brassica (cabbage family) of some sort on the left.

How funny. I wonder what it's going to turn in to. Or how I am getting these random veg plants in my garden…

Do you think it used to be a vegetable patch at one time?

I love the idea of a carrot and strawberry lawn 😁

Hmmm… MissWilmottsGhost , possibly. But probably not for a good few years. There's a lot of bluebells, lily of the valley, and plants that grow from this (not my picture, but I've forgotten the name of it…) i.stack.imgur.com/49kvB.jpg in the same area.

A lot of poppies seem to have sprung up too, in random pots of soil, which is lovely.

Crocosmia, might be the last bulb. They all came up blind though, so unsure :/

Hemlock or ragwort?

I don't think it's ragwort, because we've got that too. I hope it isn't hemlock. Hmmm think I'm going to dig it up in case it is poisonous
