Gardening

What has nature decided I want here then?

Mother Nature is very much the head gardener in my garden.
Last year she decided I wanted foxgloves in one border, and she was right! When they went to seed I made sure there was a liberal sprinkling of seeds.
This is what I now have growing.
What have I got?

What has nature decided I want here then?

That could be a clump of rosebay willowherb (honesty), it has pretty flowers and lovely thin papery seedheads in autumn but it can also be viewed as an invasive weed

I don't know (but if timtam is correct it is nice to have a name for them).

But I have them seeding everywhere in my garden and just spent two hours weeding them out. I would get rid before they set seed. And I say this as a cottage garden/wildlife garden type!

I don't think rosebay willow herb and honesty are the same. It looks like rosebay willow herb, which have long spikes small flowered florets and fluffy seed heads. They are a general nuisance in a garden.
Honesty has more heart shaped leaves with jagged edges. The flowers can be purple or white. They are larger and also grow in a spiked fashion. A bit like wall flowers. Lovely seed heads. I welcome them in my garden.

Ah, now I did have an Honesty in that border too so it could be.

I think it's rosebay willowherb as well. It definitely isn't Honesty - just been to look at mine (which has just opened its flowers today) and the leaves are completely different.

Well rosebay willow herb is food for the elephant hawk moth so I will keep some of it at least. The caterpillars are beautiful.

Ooops sorry I'm getting my green leafy plants muddled up! At least i was probably right with the rosebay willowherb! Honesty seedheads are beautiful so if you have some of those plants as well, it would be a bonus!
