Neighbours feeding pigeons!

We recently did work in our house with a rear and loft extension hence we have a new black tiled roof. For some time both our neighbours on either side have been leaving food outside and pigeons naturally have swooped in. I see they have roosted on one neighbours roof and have left a filthy mess. This has spread o to our roof with lots of white pigeon crap on our new roof. Now I've talked to both neighbours. One told me she would stop and she did for a while. Until today, when I saw a group of pigeon feasting on some bagels she left out. The other neighbours are tenants and I don't know how many people live there. But I have also spoken to at least 4 of them and a child who lives there. They don't speak English but I speak their language and have told them in it. Every time I tell them not to feed the pigeons they just blank me. I have even told them that I will call their landlord if they continue. Sure enough I saw that neighbour put out food yestetday. What do i do? I think its illegal to feed pigeons? Am I right. Shall I call the council. I'm fed up with telling them as clearly they don't care. The mess is absolutely filthy. The tenants have a tiled garden and its so dirty with pigeon crap. Yesterday I saw their toddler walking outside without any shoes!

A relative had this problem with their neighbours. Pigeon shit all over their conservatory roof. They contacted the environmental health team at the local council and the neighbours were told to stop feeding the pigeons. So go for it!

We put out food for the birds and sometimes pigeons eat it. Not sure there's much you can do about it - it's legal to feed garden birds.

I am not sure that removing the food will remove the pigeons. They like roosting and nesting and generally hanging out in gardens. I'm afraid that unless the flock is absolutely huge, this is probably something you just have to live with.

I feed the birds and if my neighbour asked me to stop because the birds were shitting on their roof I'd nod, smile and then carry on exactly as I did before.

It's not your neighbours fault you chose a black roof is it?

The OP should absolutely get a life. Perhaps instead of an extension, you should move somewhere where you can't monitor the neighbours' every move (like throwing a bagel and watching their toddler's feet). Pigeons have their place in British gardens, unlike you - watch your own garden and perhaps pay the builder a bit more to install a better bird-proof design. You sound sick.

I don't fee the pigeons or even the birds, they are all over my garden, all day every day. I hate them. I have to close my bedroom window early morning because of their incessant noise.
If I had the means to I would happily shoot them.
No one round here feeds them - they are just a fact of life.

Blimey you don't have anything else to think about !!!!!

Why are humans sooo arrogant?? We soon won't have a world if we kill everything that's in it. The birds were here before us give them a break .

I feed ALL the birds, they in turn eat the greenfly on the roses and the slugs too.

The op was 3 years ago -I wonder if op has moved by now or is still having pigeon problems?

@ppeatfruit couldn’t agree more.

I love pigeons and the sound they make.
