How overpriced are Crocus?

I'm looking at there ready made borders & thinking of printing the list and taking it to the local garden centre.

Is this a sensible plan?.

Yes. I reckon there is a premium of £2-3 on everything over the same plant in my local garden centre.

Having said that, their quality is very good, their range is huge, and I do buy from them, especially when they have special offers.

Got some stuff from them recently. (And have just put in another order.)

Their stuff came really quickly, the plants were in fab condition and really carefully packaged. So feel quite hopeful about them doing well. Certainly look happy two weeks later.

Bit of a contrast to other online companies I've ordered plants from.

Can't help with Crocus but if the planting list is fairly straightforward Morrisons prices are very good for decent sized shrubs/trees if you have one nearby.

I mention it as I was looking at borders-on-a-roll for inspiration the other week.

Most of the stuff in those planting schemes is very standard... You can get those plants way cheaper at the discounters (Aldi, lidl, Morrisons etc) or markets or at cheap discount garden places. It will take longer, however... You have to hunt them down!

crocus plants in my experience are really good quality.

PurpleWithRed · 25/03/2017 22:55

If you can get to them the Crocus open days are well worth a visit. Go alone, borrow a neighbour's estate car, bliss.

Definitely not more expensive than our local garden centre. I stood and compared prices last time I went. The quality of the plants is much better too. But worth waiting for offers.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/03/2017 13:38

Well I went to my local nursery, I think crocus with a 20% off code will be cheaper.

I tried to buy a buddleia in lidl today but it was dead. Poor thing had only just been put out too.

My aldi acer is coming back to life though.
