The Ikea plastic shoe mats are AMAZING for keeping and watering seed trays and pots.

So cheap, so sturdy here - £1.75 each and they are really strong. The garden centre ones were more than twice the price, half the size and much more flimsy.

I'm so pleased I just had to share that with you all.

At least I didn't describe it as a 'hack'.

Here's the proof. Deep enough for a proper water and strong enough to move with lots on. But (key) not too wide.

This is such a coincidence! I need one for boots at the back door and had already decided to buy some for my plastic greenhouse shelves. Great minds Grin

The front tray has apple pip seedlings, the one behind has rose cuttings and behind that has peas and beans.

Very good! We are just looking at greeenhouses but can't wait to get going

is it much wider than a standard seed tray?

No, I wouldn't say it is a snug fit but there's just the right room to water. They are so cheap I would definitely encourage you to get one and try it one if you are going to IKEA. Smile
