can you help identify this flower/plant please?

Looks like white Tradiscantia. I'm sure someone with better knowledge will be along soon.

It's not the plant which has the long thin leaves is it? The leaves with flowers on are different...the flower buds look very like the balloon flowers I have but they are pink and blue.

Right a quick Google tells me that they are platycodons, normally blue but also in pink or white. The common name refers to the balloon shape of the flower bud. They are hardy too (mine has been outside for the last four years).

I'm not sure you need worry about tweeness where plants are concerned.
