Callistemon help

I've inherited a neglected callistemon in an ancient pot. It's about 4ft tall but very leggy - the limited foliage is all at the top

Would it tolerate a good prune? I'm a bit clueless with this plant. Variety unknown but the leaves are olive green and the flowers are red (hasn't flowered yet this year probably due to neglect).

The RHS website suggests it likes full sun if I was to plant it out

I can't decide whether to persevere with it or if it's a lost cause
