Wall planters

We have a large old wall that dominates our view onto our garden (it's a Victoria. House and they are weird off-set gardens). I can't plant anything there as our patio is there, I've put a few pots there but it's a huge tall wall so I thought it might be nice to put an array of wall planters on there.

Any recommendations on where I can buy some non- plastic ones that will survive frosts?

It's a question of what kind of style you like, really. Have a look on pinterest - there are tons of different ideas, some contemporary, some more traditional. Metal or wood are probably a good material for your style of house. I like these: www.notonthehighstreet.com/rowenandwren/product/sola-brass-wall-planters

Maybe think about climbers as well as a green 'background' for your planters. If there's no space immediately in front of the wall, either a slab can be removed or larger ones can go into the soil some distance away and be trained towards the wall.

They look lovely but quite pricey. I think my garden could end up costing more to maintain than our house!

Removing a slab and adding climbers is a good idea, although the the wall is curved so it would be tricky to add a trellis.
