Can someone please help me get my head around something...

Right, atm I'm dithering between trying square foot gardening and container gardening.

Some of the sites I've googled about square foot gardening say to plant things like carrotts in lots of 16...so 4x4.

So, if I want a fairly constant crop of carrotts erm....I think I would need a couple of squares of them, planted at different times? But I don't really understand!

(sorry to be dense, I just don't get it, I am usually quite intelligent -honest!)

of you want lots of carrots, throughout the season you should look at succession sowing I think it's called, basically planting every couple of weeks, and look at types of carrots, some will crop far dinner than others, just beware though carrots are prone to carrot root fly and when you pick them the smell can bring on an attack to the crops still growing. It may be worth companion planting with French marigolds or garlic or spring onions to help disguise their smell.
