we bought a neglected house. The gardens were basically mini weed nurseries. With ground elder Angry

we finally cleared the front garden of all its big ugly shrubs etc last week, rescuing anything nice which are living in pots in the back garden.

We have applied glyphosate to the garden.

I have now spent 2 hours clearing about 3sqm of weeds. At this rate, it'll take me about 3 weekends.

I grew up with a huge garden with ground elder in the days before glyphosphates.

I think it was sherry, though, not gin that kept mum going.

With the help of DH we cleared almost half. We're both broken now.

aah but its very satisfying clearing grounbd elder. I have lots because my otherwise lovely neighbour has a complete infestation of it. id much rather clear ground elder than bindweed.

You do know that it will spring up again from every tiny bit left in the ground keep hacking away at it and you will eventually win. Sort of.

every time I close my eyes I see the roots! We tried to get up most of it, but probably failed. Lots of kindly neighbours stopped by to tell us it would all spring back again... Sad
