GYO Fertiliser: Manure, Chicken Pellets and/or Fish Blood Bones?

Having GYO in containers am attempting in the garden this year - after clearing and adding compost, which fertiliser is the best? or does it depend on what veg I'm growing?

And are they all safe for cats and dogs?

Composted manure dug in every year has always worked wonders for me.
