not sure this is right place to post, but there is a baby bird, fledgling i think, matbe a sparrow or robin, on our garden bench. It has been there at least twenty min as i left my phone there and went to get it. the bird did not move when i went up slowly but is def alive. i went again to check after ten min and its still there. no parent birds are calling for it so dont think its fallen from nest. it did not try to fly when i went to get my phone so i am worried its unjured.

neighbours have cats and i am worried about it! Also, we will be out soon with lots of children (who will not touch it but may scare it).

what should i do? am bit too squeamish/ wimpy to touch it and move it.

just been out and its gone. phew. no sign of feathers so think it must have flown off cat free.

Phew! Was just about to post stuff about leaving him but keeping an eye open and maybe moving him to a higher up place away from cats. If he seemed injured the advice I've heard is to place the bird gently in a darkened box and seek vet advice (or there are websites that offer advice).

Glad he seems to have gone off OK though :)
