Suburban foxes

Darn things. If they're not waking us all up with their noisy mating rituals, they are pooing in our garden. Never used to bother me that much, but DD is old enough to play in the garden this year, so I'm worried about the risk of toxocariasis

What's the best way to deter them? Not those things that emit a high-pitched noise. Several of our neighbours have them and not only is the sound still audible, but I've seen foxes nonchalantly sitting right next to one. In broad daylight.

I think part of the problem is that our garden backs onto the communal garden of flats, the corner of which is rather overgrown. I think that is where the den is.

Maybe the deterrent had run out of batteries. I have heard that a male urinating around the garden boundary will put them off, as will small bags of human hair placed around the fence.

Other than that, electric netting. I have some of this netting to protect my chickens www.omlet.co.uk/shop/shop.php?product_id=9360

I'm currently battling this problem. Making sure that the fence goes right down to the ground and blocking up gaps - I've used paving slabs and wire mesh - helps but I fear nothing is 100% effective.
