I have never grown alliums before, put some in last year and have had a gorgeous display from them. But, they have well and truly gone over now. Do I deadhead them, ignore them, do something else?

Don't want to kill the plants as they have been so lovely, help please!

Apparently you can cut them (with long stalks), dry them, and spray them for Christmas!

Christmas?! shock Think I will cut them and see how it goes from there! smile, thanks!

I am drying mine, they are more or less there now. You need to dry them upright, rather than hanging them. Stick them in a vase, with kitchen roll at the bottom.

Apparently some allium's have sap that stains stuff blood red, mine were fine, but just be aware.

Obv you must leave the foliage until it's withered and died right back.

I have a similar problem after putting in bulbs of alliums. Do they seed themselves? or do i need to dry the bulbs till the autumn and replant.

You can leave the bulbs in, I do. Just chop foliage back when it looks dead.
