Earwigs - how to get rid - yuck!!! / potatoes

I've been growing lots of seeds in my shed by the window table for some time now with great sucess.

Just recently I've been infested by Earwigs and they are eating everything. My tomato plants, lettuce, fennel, french beans, parsley, basil have all been demolished over the space of about 2 or 3 nights. I'm gutted as the tomatoes have taken some time and were almost ready for planting out. They have even eaten (I think it was the earwigs) the tops off the potatoes that I was growing outside.

Question is;

a) how do I get rid of them? Have tried lifting the pots and squashing but there is always more there the next day!

b) also does anyone know if potatoes will still grow with just the stalk and no leaves?

Crafty things, at this rate they are getting a better feed than us!
