The garden is looking lovely at the moment.

Rambling roses are blooming, agapanthus nearly out and lots of sweetpea.

How are you, Wotzy? It's been a while hasn't it?

G starts secondary in Sept.

I'm really anxious about it and find myself not sleeping because I'm imagining all the things that will possibly go wrong.Never the things that will go right, oh ho no.

Lots of things going wrong with dh....but
we're limping along as usual.

Work keeping me sane, and the garden.

Oh and the dog.

Good to hear from you. Poor DH. Nice to know the dog is still keeping you all busy, lots of walks etc. Yep, no more little ones in Juniors. Big schools now, at least dd2 has dd1 already there to guide her. I'm sure G will be fine and make lots of new friends.

Good to hear work going well. Busy here too.

I'll let the thread drop and catch up another time. I know you hate your name appearing all the time.

So pleased the rain poured yesterday, everything in the garden looks fresh today.

big virtual hugs to you all

Whole new chapter about to begin for them and us, at least you've been through it once before with dd1, so a bit more experienced and she'll be there to show dd2 the ropes.

G is going to an Irish speaking secondary, all subjects apart from English[obviously!]in Irish. Can you imagine doing, say.. physics in Irish?

He tells us we're cruel for doing this to him.

I'm a bit daunted but act nonchalent.

Dh's health not good but I won't bore you with all that.

I bet your garden looks fantastic.Like you, we're having lots of rain so everything lovely and lush.

The donkey died btw.Twas old.Feel absolutely devasted but Mollie is a good distraction.

Expect you're mad busy with bookings, etc.

Oh dear, poor donkey, so sad, but old is old. Odd how you can be sad for an animal you never met! But there it is.

Wow G - irish school and all - irish music - same notes different words and IT - same keyboard, letters in different order??!! (same toast in keyboard - what is irish for toast?) Big step for small lad. Tell him I think it is a marvelous challenge and I'm sure he's up for it and he'll appreciate the opportunity when he looks back one day. Bit daunting now TBH. But as you know, both nephews fluent in Spanish, and it will serve them well. No point in worrying. Just get on with it.

Do you still have all the school, books etc costs to find?

Do hope your DH health improves, such a worry for you.

Here, bookings OK, but everyone wants something for nothing. V. hard ATM. But ... can't moan or else I'd bore myself. A Nice little job in Marks would be nice! But I'd get bored with something like that.

Dh is OK, but looks like he needs a long break, but that won't happen. We have a short family hol booked soon, nothing fancy, but away from here and phone calls and the general public. General public, right fecking pains they can be bahhhh!

Back to see sis in Spain soon with dds, it's nearly 3 years since that thing happened. Time flies. No word said. Will grin and get on with it. She none the wiser. Dh not coming. It will be fine. Life's too short to make more of a mess of it than necessary. Send me some good Irish luck, to get me through it.

Ha, well my Irish is rubbish and h's even worse so we'll be no help, but the school are confident that he'll be flying with the Irish by the end of the Christmas term.

Main reason for choosing it is that it's small, mixed and has fantastic facilities, just hope to God he can hack it otherwise it's off to the local boys' school....think, The Butcher's Boy [have you seen that movie?]and you'll get an idea.

I don't know how you deal with the whole, I WANT A HOLIDAY NOW.FIVE STAR LUXURY, OWN POOL, ALL MEALS INCLUDED, COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF DRINK PROVIDED FREE, DAY AND NIGHT, ALL FOR 9.99.

Can imagine how you're feeling about holiday to Spain.Tis tough.

All I can say is, you're doing the right thing imo. It's what I'd do in your position.

You're putting others before yourself, your love for your sister, nephews, your mum, your dh and your dc's and of course your deceased father is what matters and must be preserved.

Bloody tough though.Very hard.

But often doing the right thing is.

I'll chat again, might be back on this evening.

It's handy to have somewhere to just leave your thoughts though, isn't it?

Better out than in.

Or is that something else?

I've missed our chats, you're the best Virtual friend anyone could wish for.

Will make a point of seeing that film. Have you read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, see if you library has it. You'd like it I think.

dd has a drama performance (not a tantrum) tonight in local play thingy, so not sure what time I'll be back. Prob after 10pm.

Just booked dd1 train tickets to London on Virgin, they have a fist class ticket sale on. She's off to see stepD in London for a few days in the hols. 13 years old and off to London on her own to visit sis, it's all very exciting (direct train, someone to meet her other end etc). Then StepD coming back with her to stay with us for a few days. Won't let dd2 go yet. She's my little girl still.

Don't think I have seen that film, wotzo, will try and get it.

Or maybe I have, my brain is shot, I tried to put the uncooked dinner in the fridge to bake today...and I hit a lamp post whilst reversing in town...and I forget where I've put things, like the shopping list that I wrote out to remind me what I needed to buy,

Watched Educating Rita the other night, twas on late and I was up with dh working through some stuff to do with courses and funding and lots of other boring stuff, anyway, it was good, naff and poorly acted apart from Michael Caine, but quite uplifting and reminded why I love teaching.

Did you know they filmed Edcating Rita in Dublin?

Not a lot of people know that hee hee..

Very exciting for dd1 going off to london on her own, makes you feel old though doesn't it?

I want to be young and carefree again.

I'm longing for my agapanthus to bloom, tis a slow process.

Gardening certainly teaches you to have patience, doesn't it?

The Alchemist - it's a book, you narna!

Yes gardening, still waiting to get the glass in greenhouse and dig out the veg plot. On my autumn list of things to do.

I wouldn't have the patience to teach.

Forgetful all the time. Walk out the front door, get in the car and can't remember how to get from A to B. Look like a fool, while it wait to figure it out before exiting the drive!

Reading a book which had the word "Shenanigans" in it. Great word. Like silly words in good books.

Haven't watched Educating Rita for some years. Watch terminator 2 with dds the other night. Filmed 1991. Great quotes [There's no fate but what we make for ourselves], and the special effects are still brilliant. Bit gruesome in parts, but not too bad (bad mother badge).

See, told you my brian was like a marshmallow that has been squeezed and flattened.

Book...yes...good...will read.

Shenanigans.

Is it written by an Irish person?

The book you're reading, I mean.

I'm off to shop now.

I'll just make a list of what I need and leave it on the table first though.

What are you going to grow in your veg beds?

I bought a bloody raised bed from local garden centre for 75 euro.

I know.

Mad.

Dh was very mad.I told him the money goes to charity [lie]

How was dd'd performance last night, daaarling?

wotz.

It was lovely catching up with you, it's been awhile.

I've always enjoyed chatting with you and having a laugh, but MN has really moved on since we first joined and I feel really out of it all, out of the loop, so may go back to lurking around now and again when I've nothing better to do.

I wish dd2 well for Sept. She'll be grand.

Try and enjoy your Spanish holiday. Not easy.

Good luck with the greenhouse and the veggies.I'm making a cold frame with dh, which is not going well, I think I may put him in it when it's finished.

If ever you find yourself in Co.Wicklow, head for Avoca and ask for the woman from Dublin who teaches art and walks a dog called Mollie.

Keep up with the gardening. Lifts spirits and good exercise.

It's been nice catching up. I feel my MN time has been and gone too. Had some good laughs with some nice folk on here. But will pop on on off I expect every now and then.

More settled in RL now and ready to face the teen years ahead with my girls.

I'm sure G will do well in Big School too (love that phrase).

Wish you well too Tnog. I will come I'll come and visit one day - I'm sure I'll walk the paths you walk without even knowing it for sure. It will make me smile.
