Take a year out or not

So I'm currently on an access course for social work.

I applied to my preferred uni and didn't get accepted.
I have a conditional offer from another uni.
I originally decided to take a year out and reapply this September for my uni of choice.

Should I take the conditional offer-do the year and then apply at my uni of choice anyway for next year and start again or just take the year out??

Doing a year at the place you have a conditional offer and then restarting the following year doesn’t seem like the most sensible option. For one thing you’d be using your extra year of funding up, which you might need later on.

You could start at the conditional and explore transferring to the preferred but this is by no means guaranteed.

You also might find if you start the conditional and reapply for the preferred that you still aren’t offered a place - in which case you would either have to drop out of conditional and wait a year, or stay at the conditional.

Why are you not happy to stay at your conditional offer uni for the whole course? It might be helpful to revisit the campus and try and speak to staff more to find out more about your specific concerns whatever they are.

If you’re totally set on going to your preferred offer, I would reject the conditional offer and reapply for your preferred next year. You could spend the interim time investigating what you could do to improve your chances of receiving an offer at your preferred uni?

Thankyou so much for replying-preferred uni is literally on my doorstep. A free bus ride away, the other is two trains away. It's the only reason really
