Thanks kitten Has anyone else got Spanish tomorrow? DD had day at home today with head in Spanish & Geography. Talking of things to address post exams is the pile of Uni prospectuses & the state of her pit bedroom upstairs 😲

Hello all. I am in the fab position of DS having AS maths retakes (C1, C2 and S1) (to try to improve grades a bit) and A levels this year. Smile

What fun for you Lineys!

Lashings, you mean your dd hasn't learned the art of exam procrastination by tidying up?! Grin

Thanks Kitten.

DD reports that C1 and History could have been worse, but also could have been better!

Two down, ten to go!

Good luck to DC with exams tomorrow.

lashings don't make her tidy her pit. Dh made dd tidy hers at the weekend, then on Monday she's suddenly got her boyfriend in there! Bedrooms should be kept messy enough that they are embarrassed to bring boys home.

At the school where I work (not DS1's school) the fire alarm went off during this morning's exams! Poor kids.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 17/05/2017 22:53

kitten I wish! DD can find time to procrastinate over new make-up techniques or applying the new bottle of nail varnish, but never by tidying up her room unfortunately 😏 and MsAwesome even the prospect of boyfriend seeing it doesn't embarrass her either although he's off limits for 2 weeks during exams thanks to really unfair mother!

MsA - oh my jolly goodness, that is such a good point! Eldest DD recently split up from her bf of 2 years and we have had SO many 17 year-old boys round since Hmm I might go and make her bedroom more untidy tomorrow Grin

Lineys - good grief - that sounds hard!

No exams today for us but yesterday DS2 had C1 as did DS1 who is also trying to improve grades.

DS2 has English Lit tomorrow. That's it for this week.

DS3 has done 3 exams this week, has 3 next week and just the 1 after half term.

Although all 3 are doing ASs and DS1 then doing A2s, strangely we all feel slightly less stressed than for the last 3 years when they have done GCSEs. Maybe the lower number of exams to sit per person, even though they are at a higher level.

I'm glad it's less stressful for you Truffle, that's a lot going on!

It's certainly easier to work out a revision plan with so many fewer subjects and hopefully they are doing their favourite subjects.

FP1 for dd tomorrow, so it's been a nice gentle week. I think the relief of having found the first one was fine will make it easier for dd.

Good luck to anyone with exams today.
I think it is much easier with fewer subjects.
Dd doesn't have anything more until next week. She is really exhausted and in pain after her marathon yesterday and I thought she might decide not to go in but she has.
I am worried about how she will cope next week when she has physics and history on the Tuesday followed by maths on the Wednesday morning.

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/05/2017 10:29

That is a worry NoHaudin. Is there any chance she can spend Monday at home in bed?

I suggested that but the school is running a C2 revision workshop which she wants to do.
I will see how she is after the weekend. Unfortunately she can't 'bank' energy.

Thankyou for the new thread Kitten.
Hope today has been a good day for any with exams.
Dd said core 1 yesterday was harder than expected but not too terrible.
It's core 2 next week that she's really worried about. (And stats after half term that she's terrified by, but not thinking about yet because there's still half term to learn revise that!)

English Lit tomorrow so we have an evening of quote-testing ahead of us tonight.

It definitely feels a lot more chilled than last year so far.
I'm already dreading next year - A2s for dd1 and GCSEs for dd2 Confused

HesMyLobster I asked my sister-in-law how she coped the year she had one with A2 and the other sitting GCSEs. She said that it worked really well because they were both needing quiet time rather than one trying to revise while the other had a normal noisy life. It may not be as difficult as you fear.

Lobster that was me last year. I found the worst part of it was after the exams when we didn't know what either of them were going to be doing until the results came out.

DS1 has his first exam tomorrow, so how did he use his time this evening? Clearing out his desk and doing a huge declutter of his room.

Icouldbeknitting · 19/05/2017 06:59

I could never settle to revision (uni, accountancy exams) until I'd cleaned and tidied. Once I'd taken everything from under the kitchen sink, wiped it, sorted it and put it back then it was tome to start.
