Out of interest how many periods of free study does a student in Lower 6th have per week. DS is only taking 3 A levels.

TIA x

Well that'll depend on how many periods in a day, and how long each is....

FWIW dd gets 4 hours a week per A Level plus 1 hour tutor time, 1 hour extra study and as many lunchtime catch up sessions as she feels necessary.

DS has 5 x one hour periods a day, 25 a week and his timetable is spread over 2 weeks. So out of a possible x50 1 hours periods over 2 weeks my DS has 25 of those as free study.

Does that sound about right please?

Yep. Sounds normal. 12.5 hours a week timetabled is presumably 3 lots of four hours plus one hour a fortnight tutor or PSHE-type time.

DS is studying four A levels at the moment, together with enrichment and extended project. He has five free hours a week.

Dd is doing 3 A levels. She has 4.5 hours per subject each week plus 2 hours where she is supposed to attend to catch up on homework (she often does not go!) And 1 hour per week tutor. The rest of the time is free, ie lies in bed or socialises. So loads of free time for studying if she was that way inclined.
