1. Portsmouth (really low offer -she'll easily get in)

2. Swansea (middling offer - will get it)

3. Newcastle (very high, not likely to get)

4. Keel (middling)

I favour Swansea because it's by the beach and I have fond memories of it. Slso easy to get to.

She did favour Portsmouth until Keel lowered their offer. She didn't think she'd get what they originally wanted but now.....

Any experience? Suggestions?

Also Keel is a Major programme. I don't think the others are (i have no idea what this means but she does)

Has she looked at the modules involved? That's the most important thing, and is likely to vary significantly between unis.

Is she mostly interested in Physical or Political? Whether she comes out with a BSc or a BA will have snog impact on what she can do with her degree. Does she have a preferred career in mind?

Physical. BSc.

She prefers the portsmouth modules but is now swinging towards keel.

Erm, how to say this nicely - Keele is a very special kind of place.

It is a remoteish campus uni. You coudl quite easily never leave for 3 years and the nearest town is Stoke on Trent which is not that exiting ime.

Portsmouth is more towny, and by the sea!

I think the city is more appealing than campus tbh

It looks like Portsmouth is a good choice in many ways then. No point in being unhappy on an academically amazing course, rather happy on one that suits your dd in a location she likes.

I would say Newcastle, but I see that is unlikely.
I like Keel, lots of other interesting stuff there. Not that Portsmouth is bad; I would let physical factors (distance, feel of the campus) decide between them.
Leeds screams to mind. But I say that as a geography geek.
Not Loughborough

Only Newcastle is a Russell Group university (which could be important in terms of getting a job later). Ideally go there.
