Getting nowhere with HMRC angry

Started a business last tax year. My profits for 16-17 were much less than the £5965 threshold for C2NICs. My online return says I owe nothing.

If I don't pay Class 2 contributions, am I jeopardising my entitlement to state pension / JSA in the future? The website is really vague.

You need 30 years contributions to be entitled to the full state pension

Do you have an exemption certificate? Have you declared that you do? It's £145 for a full year, worth paying it in my opinion.

You will jeopardise potential for jsa. I have worked but had my hour snow reduced and am now redundant and they are refusing my claim as I haven't paid enough class 1

Oh crikey, what's an exemption certificate?
