Contracting after maternity leave

Hi all

I am seriously considering contracting after my maternity leave instead of going back to my full time permanent role. I am an experienced RPO/recruitment manager and wondering if anyone else out there has any advice on this and if it is easier to get part time contracting work following maternity leave?
