Hi, we are almost finished with our assessment and have been going through some panel dates. I'm beginning to feel really nervous now. One of the things stressing me out a little bit is our finances. We have never missed a payment on any loan or credit card but we have had a lot going on over the last few years due to children going to University and moving house. Can anyone advise on how much detail they go into during this section of the application?
Thanks in advance

Hey good luck with panel.x
We where approved in June, and panel noticed a discrepancy about our finances due to the SW😬 we asked to clarify this . It was nothing major, just that the SW had put my husband income as mine and I only work part-time 2 days a week so they where a little concerned about how we would mange with an income of 500 a month .
But they where so lovely and panel was a very pleasant experience for us.xxxx

@Snuchs thank you so much for responding. That seems like a reasonable question as they were just clarifying with you. Were you ever asked for copies of your bank statements or asked to do a credit check? I have no issue with either but nothing has been said regarding stuff like that and i'd rather be prepared.
Again thank you for your speedy response, its much appreciated

Hey,
We where only asked for one bank statement each , which wasn't too bad .
We had to fill out a sheet which had to show how much money we had coming in and out. Things like wages coming in, child benefit. The outgoing where bills, petrol, food, holidays etc.x
I wouldn't worry honestly, as long as you are now in a good situation financially this shouldn't be a problem .x

We had to provide bank statements going back 3 years. We’re with an agency so they may be more thorough.
I think they just need to see that you aren’t dependant on the fostering payments to pay your mortgage/rent and utilities. Sometimes you may go months without a child placed so you need to be able to cope financially if this happens.
Hope everything goes well for you.

@cassimin OMG 3 Years, that seems excessive. How long have you been doing Fostering for now? Is it going well? I know I’m just overthinking things really, probably because the process is coming to a close. Thank you for your reply :x

We’ve been fostering for 7 years now.
Have child with us who’s long term so they are just part of our family now and will be with us forever.
I found that the form f was very thorough, we both had ex partners and they were interviewed, even though we had split with them 14 years previously.
Our children were all interviewed too.
At the time it seemed very intrusive but I suppose they need to be as thorough as they can.
Good luck, hope panel goes well.

Our assessment has finished and we are waiting a panel date (2 have been cancelled. We haven’t been asked about our finances at all at any stage. We are both self employed and we gave our accountant’s details and I know he has been approached but all he knows about is our business, not our actual personal finances. We haven’t been given a copy of the Form F either and dont even know if its finished, I had thought we were supposed to see it and check it before it was sent to panel but other than contact when the last 2 dates were cancelled we haven’t been told anything.

We saw our form f before panel.
I thought they had to do this to make sure there were no mistakes.
Maybe this is why your panel dates have been cancelled.
I don’t know but maybe the panel have told your social worker they need more info or she hasn’t finished the form f properly.
Have you spoken to your sw?
