Would I be suitable?

Most foster carers are required to be at home with the child.
There are many meetings you are required to attend and because the child is supposed to be at school doesn't mean they will attend.
Fostering requires complete dedication as most of the children have additional needs.
I know I couldn't do it alone whilst trying to hold down a job.

Does your shift work include nights? Weekends? As I can't see that being feasible, however I do know carers that do long term fostering and work full time it does take a lot more juggling but can work, you would need to speak to local LA/Agencies and see their opinion as they are all different 😃

Maybe not fostering, but if you're interesting in helping older children then Supported Lodgings could work for you.
