Daily Mail - Foster mum shook 23 month old baby to death

Not sure if this is the right area to post but I feel so strongly I need to let it all out. Sorry.

The poor little boy had lost a quarter of his body weight since being placed with this foster parent. He was there for four months. The foster parents defrauded the system by continuing to claim £27,460 for children that they no longer looked after and who had moved on.

The baby, Harry, had suspected Autism and was very, very vulnerable, being so young, possibly Autistic, and fostered. Why was his weight loss not noticed by other professionals? Why was it never noticed by other professionals that he was the only baby living there. Surely, social services would have wanted to see the baby interacting with the "other children" so the fraud would have come to light early on and the nature of this so called professional foster mother be revealed and the baby removed.

It all seems very wrong to me and very disturbing that this little boy could fall through the cracks. There were clues and concerns and questions ignored by the only ones who could act to safeguard him.

I thought we had learned from the sad deaths of Victoria Clumbie and Baby P.

It seems not.

It's a terrible story and I truly hope that woman suffers in prison.

In my LA the SWs are responsible for informing finance when a child leaves a placement so the payments are stopped. More often than not the SW doesn't do this so payments continue. Then we will contact finance to say we have been overpaid and the money will be taken back. A new child coming into placement will have a different SW who would have no idea what payments the carer is receiving.

Evil woman i do believe in karma hopefully she dies a slow painful death ..but aside from that the care professionals dealin with this poor child need to face sum repricutions as u said why did they not question the weight loss?

Such a sad story, I am glad that the majority of fostering stories don't end like this!
