Oh, I wish the phone would ring again. We've been matched up with 2 placements so far, one went somewhere else, the LA haven't made up their mind yet with the most recent one.

Fingers crossed people, say a little prayer!

(meanwhile, I will be cleaning FC's bedroom- again!)

Well, at least it shows you are in the forefront of their minds!!

I remember the wait... talk about jump when the phone rang...

From what our SSW says, they have so many carers with 'vacancies' that I think you've done really well so far... some are waiting months!!!

It'll soon happen I'm sure and then you'll wonder what you did with your spare time!! Grin

Eeeep! Hopefully I won't be waiting for months.

Where are you based? We're East Midlands.

We got another call today, which was exciting, but it we didn't get it :(

The wait is so hard :( We waited 4 months for our first placement. 4 didn't come in the end despite the fact they were sure they would!Cambs!

All worth it in the end!

Hope your placement comes soon

LEt us know how you are getting on!

This is so frustrating for foster carers. The thing is that when the cp sws go out on a case where they think the children may need to be removed, they ask the Fostering team first if there is a vacancy and that is when you get the call from the fostering team. Later it turns out that things are not as bad as they thought, or there is a family member who can take the children (LAs have a duty to place a child with a member of the extended family where ever possible if they need to be removed from birth parents)

Miss Verinder - what age range are you approved for and do you foster for an LA or an IFA as these are important factors in your position

We're approved for 0-14 with an IFA. The long term plan is to get in with the LA.

Our first placement was returned last week, and we are back to the waiting game, I don't think it is any easier this time round either. It was 10 weeks the first time, I am crossing everything that it won't be so long this time. Although in saying that every day we wait means that it is a day longer a child hasn't been needed to be removed from their family :)

Good luck and I hope your call comes soon :)

Good luck to you both and hope you have either pitter patter of tiny feet or stomp stomp of dirty trainers soon! Meanwhile enjoy the peace and a glass of Wine tonight (so jealous!!)
