addicted to chup

Help!
My 19 month old son is addicted to ketchup or chup as he calls it. Unless he is having a meal with its own sauce like a stew or casserole he demands chup to be poured on his meal. He does this about 3 times per meal and will even try to just dip his fingers into it and lick them without eating any of the food. The problem has just kind of crept up on us and can see it getting alot worse if I don't act now. Not sure what to do though. Should I stop him eating it altogether? Is it really very bad for him? Anyone else had this problem and can offer any advice?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I know someone who was addicted to ketchup as a child who has grown up to be a very successful food writer and TV chef.

My mum swears 'chup is very good for you because of the cooked tomatoes. Sounds crazy to me.

It might prove be an obstacle to his budding sense of taste though. I would want to nip it in the bud.

Ketchup is full of lycopene from the tomatoes, which is very healthy. I would make sure it's organic though.

The lycopene may be healthy, but it also contains a lot of sugar and salt.

You could try making your own and putting in the bottle¬
