I have previously posted about how difficult I have found it to feed my dd, but up until 4 days ago it was getting much better. Then she decided that she didn't want to eat!! I tried so hard not to get stressed about it but now we are on day 4 and all she has eaten today is 3 very small spoons of weetabix at 8am. She has taken 14oz of milk over 2 feeds but she really hasn't seemed bothered by it either.
She is crying as if she is hungry but when I put her in her highchair she just turns her head away completely and pushes my hand away. I have tried getting her out and playing with her and trying again but nothing seems to work.
She is fine in herself and still crawling around and playing with her toys but is sleeping more than she used to during the day.
Should I be worried or just keep going and remind myself that babies will eat when they are hungry??

TIA

um, is she teething?

milk is still the most important source of nutrition at that age, so yes, she isn't going to starve.

the sleeping may be the hot weather? my ds (same age) has been sleeping a bit more when it's hot, and also isn't so hungry. He does seem to appreciate cool purees when it's hot though.

I have also tried all different foods, giving her a spoon to play with etc etc and no change.....

Carolina sorry posts crossed - she has the two bottom teeth so I suppose the top ones could be coming through - cold purees seem to make no difference though!!

Hi Bellie we were on the same Oct babies thread, my DD is exactly same, I am putting it down to the heat. However it's been getting harder to feed her as she gets older, she starts to get upset when I put her in the high chair, it's so stressful some days I dread feeding time but I try and make it as fun as possible with different toys, props, singing you name it...

bellie, does she try and grab food off your plate? if so, sit on the floor/in the garden and eat away, letting her pinch stuff. i think it could be her teeth? a wee while before the meal give her some calgel and see if that makes a difference

Are you sure its not the heat, my dd has been like this, not eating or sleeping much, she hates the heat, its realy getting to her.

Bellie, Bean has not been great with his food these last few days. Starts ok and then just starts crying and won't eat any more. Am putting it down to the heat, but will see how he goes.

Hi Turtle - how the devil are you?!!

Hi Bean we are great. You?? I find feeding at the moment really hard at this age, it started great but my DD seems a bit behind for her age group, throws finger food on the floor and still gags on lumps grrr... I keep smiling though

Hi turtle glad to hear that you are Ok - dd has eaten like a star this week - gp ssaid it was heat/teething (should just listen to mn).
Having to alternate finger foods with spoonfuls though - obvioulsy we are moving onto the next stage - just when I had got my head around this one!!
